Holly Taylor

Hi, I’m Holly Taylor—nutritional therapist, mentor, lecturer and chef.

I started Roots of Practice because I believe that when we make practicing easier, more supported and sustainable, we strengthen the entire natural health industry. After over a decade of seeing private clients and five years mentoring other practitioners, I’ve seen first-hand what it takes to turn passion into a thriving, heart-led business.

I know how overwhelming it can feel in the beginning—and how isolating it can be even when you’ve been in practice for years. That’s why I’ve created this space: to help you optimise your processes, grow your knowledge, and feel supported every step of the way. Whether you're just starting out or refining your next chapter, Roots of Practice is here to help you build a practice that feels right, does good, and grows with you.

I started studying nutrition when I was in the second year of my Chemistry degree. I was loving being at university, but I knew I didn’t want to work as a chemist. I’ve always had a huge passion for both food and health, so when I saw an ad to train as a nutritional therapist, it felt like the perfect opportunity to combine the things I love.

After graduating, I was keen to start working in private practice… but also terrified. So, I did what a lot of new practitioners do—I wildly procrastinated! I spent days making handouts, formatting clinic paperwork, faffing around designing business cards… telling myself that once I had everything perfect, then I’d be ready. I was standing in my own way, and I just couldn’t see it.

It wasn’t until I had some mentoring sessions with an experienced practitioner - Alex Ferretti -that everything shifted. Alex took one look at what I’d been doing, handed me a flash drive with all his clinic paperwork on it, and told me to go book a room and just get started. He helped me see that I’d been hiding behind excuses, and that the only way I’d learn was by doing. He also made it clear that if I ever got stuck, he’d help me. That combination of tough love and reliable support was exactly what I needed.

It’s now more than 15 years later. In that time, I’ve helped hundreds of clients in private practice, worked in practitioner education for supplement companies and colleges, retrained as a chef, run two restaurants, and mentored other practitioners. But the power of that first mentoring session with Alex has always stayed with me.

So in 2023, after closing a restaurant in Brighton, I knew I wanted to find a way to give that gift back. To create a space for practitioners that offered everything they needed to get started—and a safety net for when things get tough. A supportive community where natural health practitioners can thrive, ask questions freely, and know they’ll always be met with acceptance and thoughtful support.

Teaching and lecturing have shown me that while food and health are my passion, my real talents lie in making the complex simple, seeing the threads that connect someone’s health challenges, and helping others feel safe, supported, and accepted exactly where they’re at.

I started Roots of Practice to share what I’ve learned and created over the years. I want to use my experience to help you optimise your processes, grow your knowledge, and build a practice that feels awesome, makes you money, and fills your heart.

This space is for practitioners who care deeply, value growth, and want to create practices rooted in integrity, that feel amazing—not exhausting. If that sounds like you, you’re in the right place.
